Review of Memento

Synopsis 

There is a man called Leonard who has the inability to form new memories and also have the short-term memory. The new memory will disappear when it's until a period of few minutes of time as he caused by the accident that someone has been kidnapped and murdered his wife and there is a guy that push Leonard to the mirror straight to fell down, cause his head bleeding. The movie is start with 2 sequences which is the colour and black and white that represent two different time lines. The colour sequences shown backward of the scenes on how Leonard finds the killer although the killer had been killed in the first scene. The black and white sequences shown that he is speaking to an unknown killer for showing how is this case happened. The final scene shown that the changes of sequences when the photo develops. At that time, Teddy told him that the real killer is already have been killed and reveals that Sammy's story is his own story and burn the photo to make up the new truth, making Leonard that to kill Teddy. 


5 scene that I liked 

There are many scenes that I liked which includes the finals scene. The finals scene start with when Leonard was killed Jimmy and Teddy arrives and tell that Jimmy is John.G but Teddy also reveals that Leonard is been used since long time ago and let him know that Sammy role is Leonard role. John.G of this is already a common in this world. However,  Leonard wants to forget himself memory and burn the photo that he took Jimmy's death body. I felt like this scene is already answer all my previous scene questions. It can build up the audience's curiosity of past few scenes and straightly give all the answer to us. I think that this is the brilliant scene to present it. 

Moreover, the opening scene was also the scene that i liked for this movie. The movie start the action is moving backward which is Leonard has shoot his head by the gun. I think that this movie is trying to give us to prepare that the story will be starting from the end of the story to the beginning of the story. Not a lot of movies that can start a movie with like this. I think this more creative opening scene than the other movies. Also, I like this scene is because it just start from the surprising climax to make the audiences more curious about this movie so they will be more interesting to continue watching this movie. 

Furthermore, the scene that I like in this movie is the flashback scene which is Leonard has been push him down to the ground by the attacker who just raped his wife. At the ground scene, we saw that his head is bleeding and their eyes is watching each other. I like this scene is because it is so touching that it felt like this is the last moments that they have. The audiences will sad and touching when watching this scene. This flashback scene can let us to know more that how his wife die or why his wife die.

Next, the scene that i like the most is the chase scene where it start from Leonard running and think that why is he running due to his "inability to create new memory condition". Then,  he saw a a guy running in the same speed with Leonard. He thought that he was chasing him but the opposite thing is the guy is chasing Leonard. I think that this scene is the funniest scene in this movie. It is because that Leonard curious face and also the situation of the do not what is happened can make the audiences laugh including myself. It can reduces the awkward scene and does not make this movie is very boring. 

On top of that, the last scene that i liked is the tattoo reveal scene. In the beginning of this scene, Leonard takes his shirt to have a look of his naked half body. His body shows that there is many different types of tattoo. There is many tattoo on his body is because to let Leonard know or gain the memory that what is happening before and also the important information to give him the clues that what is the next step to do such as "John.G raped and murdered my wife".due to he have the inability of create new memory. This tattoo is we all know that he has issue to deal with. It can help him to investigate easily. 


Editing of Memento

I rate this editing of this movie is 9 out of 10 as their editing is good and brilliant. They understand the relationship between the structure and the audience rather than the structure and the characters. For example, we can see that the special things that Leonard cannot keep the new memory on his mind can capture the audience attention of what he will act on this situation.

Besides that, the editing of chronological order in this movie is very well too. It is because the sequences of this movie are alternative each other. For instance, the sequence of backward of the movie is the colour sequence and the sequence of following the true opening to last scene is the black and white sequence.

In this movie review I would like to discuss about the animation movie named Corpse Bride. This movie is directed by Mike Johnson and Tim Burton. The theory that they use is about German Expressionism. This theory that have been used in nowadays life. German expressionism has the themes that included revolt, self-analysis, madness and primitive, sexual savagery. This theory had start in within first world war which is in year 1919 to 1926. In this movie review, I would like to fall backward to the old times, old movie which is the Italian movie named Ladri di biciclette. In the English name is Bicycle Thieves. This movie have used the Italian neo-realism method to produce this movie. Theory Discussion What is Italian Neo-realism?
